Waikiki boasts a 2-mile stretch of beaches, extending from the Hilton Hawaiian Village to the end of Kapiolani Park at the base of Diamond Head. And if you’re looking for action, head to Kuhio Beach. Situated between the historic Moana Surfrider and the Kapahulu Groin, this popular oceanfront section of Waikiki boasts several easily accesible surf spots and a few concession stands that rent all sorts of ocean gear, from surfboards to stand-up paddleboards. Waikiki Beach Boys still teach surfing lessons here, too. And you won’t want to miss canoe surfing, either; this is one of the only spots in Hawaii where you can ride waves aboard an outrigger canoe. The whole area has been recently upgraded with a landscaped boardwalk perfect for romantic strolls. There’s really no shortage of action here: beach volleyball matches, outdoor movies in the summer months, hula performances at sunset. And sometimes you can catch CBS’s drama “Hawaii Five-0” filming here, too.
